FORSYTHS IN HIGH SPIRITS OVER TAIWAN PROJECT

24 August 2006   A Moray design and manufacturing firm has recently completed a lucrative project to create Taiwan’s first-ever malt whisky distillery.

Forsyths, which is headquartered in Rothes, was heavily involved in the successful construction of the distillery, designing the plant and manufacturing £1.25m worth of equipment for the project in IIan in North-east Taiwan.

Working in association with the distillery’s owners, King Car Food Industrial - a Taiwanese soft drink and food firm – Forsyths built and installed the milling, mashing and distillation equipment for the £15m plant.

The fully automated distillery took a year to design and build and is set to produce one million litres of alcohol every year.

All the operations at the distillery can be monitored from Grants (Dufftown) Ltd – part of the Forsyth group of companies – with staff there able to keep a check on procedures around the clock if required.

Forsyths’ managing director, Richard Forsyth said the firm was delighted to have been involved with such an innovative and exciting project, which he believes will extend Forsyths international reach.

He said: “The Taiwanese market is extremely buoyant and the demand for malt whisky, both there and in Asia in general, is continuing to grow. To be involved with such a unique enterprise is a tremendous honour for Forsyths - especially as this the first–ever distillery of its kind in the country.

“Some of the world’s finest whiskies are mashed, fermented and distilled in Forsyth products – from grain in to spirit out – and our involvement with this project is testament to our growing worldwide reputation as industry leaders.”

Forsyths design and manufacture products for discerning blue chip, distillation, petrochemical, brewing and offshore oil and gas clients across the globe.

As well as its Rothes headquarters, the firm has two manufacturing facilities at Buckie. Grants (Dufftown) Ltd and Forblast Ltd are also both part of the Forsyth group of companies.
