IMPRESSIVE ORDER BOOK FOR MORAY FIRM FORSYTHS
03 July 2007 A Moray design and manufacturing firm has enjoyed a successful first half of 2007 with a full order book for its specialised reel products – a rise of more than 50% compared with the same period last year.
Forsyths, which is headquartered in Rothes, is manufacturing 40 flexible pipe and umbilical reels, ranging from 40-60 tonnes each in weight, for both UK and international clients. To date reels have travelled as far afield as Brazil and Trinidad and Tobago in response to increased international business.
The 2007 order book reflects a significant increase in the number of reels being produced and has led to recent staff appointments, with 20 additional employees taken on, mostly at the firm’s manufacturing facility in Buckie.
Forsyths chairman Richard Forsyth, is delighted with the recent orders and is hopeful the demand will continue in the coming years.
He said: “Compared with this time 12 months ago, we are producing around 50% more reels from our Buckie site. The recent upturn in business is great news for us and is helping to extend our international reach.
“We are almost working to full capacity with scope for additional orders at around 10% to date. This is clearly indicative of the recent increases in one of our main areas of expertise, oil and gas.”
The reels are being produced for clients including, NKT Flexibles, Wellstream International Ltd and Oceaneering, who intend to use the reels on a global basis.
Forsyths designs and manufactures products for blue chip, distillation, petrochemical, brewing and offshore oil and gas clients across the globe.
As well as its Rothes headquarters, the firm has two manufacturing facilities at Buckie. Grants (Dufftown) Ltd and Forblast Ltd are also both part of the Forsyth group of companies.
